The Bristowl

Owl in Waistcoat and bowtie with books - Pencil
For the last couple of months I've been working on the illustrations for  a children's book called "The Bristowl" written by a friend of mine named Jordan Selig (which, incidentally, is the kind of name most children's authors would plume their noms off to have).

This is an early concept for the title character. He's supposed to be a pleasant and kind, grandfatherly sort of chap. With that in mind, he's evolved since this original sketch to look a little less intense, a little less like a coiled spring of pent-up fury, a little less like a giant monster-owl that is about to peck your eyes out while shrieking horrifically into the night.
